Hair New Era

The Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is probably my favourite red carpet event because that’s when we tend to see the craziest outfits. This year the costumes were on the whole disappointingly nice and simple, so let’s get the boring ones out of the way first: Diane Kruger wore the most boring dress of the evening. And possibly ever. Surely the only way to ever wear a dress like that is to pour a huge amount of jewellery on it? Right now it's just... nothing.

Agyness Deyn recently launched her first design collection I Am By Agyness Deyn for Barneys Green in Japan. I for one am disappointed. It’s almost as bad as Emma Watson’s line for People Tree. By bad I mean boring, because what's worse than boring? And while you could expect something like that from a goody two-shoes like Emma, I believed that Aggy was capable of more. I mean, look at her quirky style: I don’t see the point in creating a line of clothing that looks completely safe and average. Example:

This is not a design as such, is it? It’s just a shirt. It’s not her. It’s not anyone really. If you’re gonna do something, do it your way. Do something new, something different. That’s my philosophy anyway. That’s why I never get the same haircut or colour twice and why I barely have any regular shoes, jeans and shirts. What’s the point in spending my money on boring clothes when I could get several sparkly bracelets or massive earrings for the same amount? Not the most practical approach to money, or indeed life, but so far I’ve got by just fine.

It breaks my heart to see how commercial haute couture has become and I remained unimpressed by most of the spring collections. But I still managed to find some gems. Not quite in the same category as Dior, but the Chanel and Armani shows in particular looked quite lovely with their light colours and feminine cuts.

I didn’t make it to an H&M store yesterday. And I’m crying inside thinking about all these greasy fingers grabbing things that I wanted to buy.
And to pour salt on the wounds, I’m writing a post on the items I would really love to have.
Although, to be completely honest, I expected more from this collection. The shoes aren’t literally to die for and even the crying inside bit was more of me being a drama queen than actual depression. But nevertheless, and even though I’m not a label whore, given the chance, I’d still grab them. They’re Jimmy Choos after all.
