During CNCFW I met a woman, @savvysuzanne, a wardrobe consultant based in Raleigh who loved my Basketball Wives inspired earrings. She took a pic and decided to mention me in her blog. Pretty Cool! Thanks Suzanne
During the evening before the show and in between sets, I had a microphone and an opportunity to interview many people. A few of the highlights that come to mind was a woman who was there to photograph the event. Mia was quite a beauty herself and she had this sassy haircut and great big oversized gold hoop earrings. I love it when women wear things so confidently.

It's hard to imagine a worse place to be a woman than Afghanistan right now, where girls are thrown in hideous jails for "moral crimes" such as leaving a violent husband.
We [Marie Claire] commissioned this "Not Guilty" T-shirt ($25 and designed by Design Bandits founder Jason Large) to raise money to help the women in her story.
The Afghan Women's Justice Project will send proceeds to non-profit groups that are working to improve imprisoned women's lives. One shirt purchase buys a child's milk for a month or school supplies for 10 prisoners.

SARAH BURTON is the creative director of Alexander McQueen. She took over the reins of the famous British label in May 2010, following Alexander McQueen's death in February the same year.
- Sarah is one of five children and was raised in Manchester. One of her brothers is a professional oboe player and one of her sisters is an opera singer.
- She attended Manchester Polytechnic to complete a foundation course, before moving to London to study Print Fashion at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. She graduated in 1997. "At one point I was going to study Fine Art at Ruskin College in Oxford, but I decided I wanted to pursue my interest in fashion," she said in the February 2010 issue of Vogue.

I asked friend and Los Angeles based designer Kalia Kirby of Valerie K if given the task, what choices would Ms. Middleton have from her bespoke creations to wear on her widely covered wedding day.
The results are a beaut and quite peng if I do say so myself. Her inspiration was the national flower of England - the red rose. Good luck to the new couple, may Ms. Middleton continue to bring more style and simplistic fashion to the world for our viewing pleasure.

The halls of Wisconsin scream in labor
as Congress takes its medicine.
The world watches stunned
while Japan struggles to breathe.
Wall Street sings a familiar tune,
as California falls to its knees.
America looks in the mirror
as she lands hard on the ground.
A tempest tosses her to and fro,
and she asks, "Who am I now?"
Sojourner charged "Ain't I a woman?"
And melancholy, Langston sang:
Oh, to be at America's table
when the good company came.
Then, Maya reminded us,
and boy, how she rang:
America's crops of abundance have not fed the hungry,
nor eased that deep pain.
Now Alice calls us anew, her voice inconvenient
yet again.
We have to live differently, she says,
or we will die in the same...
Professional woman,
phonemenally,
educated woman,
can we let this be?
Shall I? Must I? May I...
risk your ire to ask you now:
Where is the passion that once made you?
Did we lose America somehow?
Did you move from the kitchen to the table in Lanston's America,
and forget to wipe up your crumbs?
Did you Discover Maya's America for yourself
when your new master increased your funds?
You're independent now!

when he approved you with his degree!
But, oh, silent sparrow,
who flies on borrowed wings,
did you forget?
Real independence
is when they needn't approve you for a thing.

Who is America now?
Phenomenal woman, is it still you?
Will you dance at the international feast?
Or will your private tea and crumpets do?
Will you empower with your knowledge?
Or let it shine on the corporate shelf?
Will you take us to the global conversation?
Or keep on talking to yourself?
Is the current state of affairs indeed what your Maker planned?
... you passing this task to your Higher Power
when He already put the power in your hand?
Who is America now?
Still the length of history in your muscular arm,
quietly stirring, engineering justice,
laboring in wee hours to keep your flock warm?
Did your God truly intend
for the world to pass our children by?
For you to say to them "next lifetime.
You'll get your heaven when you die."
Who are you now?
What will you be when you lay to rest?
Will we celebrate your gifts that propelled us?
Or lament how you held them to your chest?
Is America still the fire in your heart
that will show the rest of us how?
Does the love of your people still beat there?
If so, who is America now?

The StylEdit sends out deep and sincere prayers to the victims and their loved ones effected by the 8.9 earthquake that hit Japan this morning. May GOD and the Universe protect the souls of both those living and passed on and strengthen anyone who is linked to this tragedy by any thread - no matter if big or small.
Also, I send a prayer out for the soul of Nic Nicholson who lost his life this past week in his sleep. 2-26-1981 - 3-10-2011, for his family and for my sis Te'. May God hold you, strengthen you and protect you.
