And then she got these big pleading, "please, let me in"-eyes - she knows very well that she is not permitted inside due to the Geek's heavy allergies.

However, she always tries - and sometimes she succeeds in sneaking in.

I"m pretty sure our home would be her home as well if we let her. She doesn't like her "real" home very much, the people who own her (and who kindly feed her and take her to the vet) - you know how cats have their own mind about where they want to be.

And honestly, if the Geek hadn't all these allergies, she already would be an established member of the family. She definitely has conquered all our hearts, even the Geek's (he would never admit that, though).

When recently I took some pictures for my Etsy shop, Geeda got very interested in the orange spider fabric I used as a background. She hopped up on the chair I had draped the fabric over and stretched out...

looking curiously at what I was doing.

Then she had to explore the fabric for a little while, mainly using her claws.

Obviously that became boring,

and she lay down,

taking a nap.

It's a good life to be a cat in my backyard.



Hello to "What's on your worktable - Wednesday" that has been going on for more than two years now thanks to the Queen of Snoops, Julia of Stamping Ground.

I'm currently in the Halloween spirit making Halloween cards and starting to decorate the house with Kaefer. She is trying out several of my Halloween fabrics to find inspiration what she wants to be for that fun holiday. We'll be having a Halloween party on the Saturday before since the holiday itself is on a Monday - very inconvenient! Kaefer is also sewing Halloween costumes for her dolls.

These are the cards I made and they are now in my Etsy shop, waiting for buyers.

She put the purple fabric over a shimmering red one - quite fancy.

A little girl who has dreamed about being a witch for Halloween fulfilled her dream.

She colored her hair green, put on the orange-blck striped dress, the fancy boots and the witch's hat with the little owl on the rim and ventured outside, accompanied by her faithful little friend, the black cat (who looks slightly scared).

It was so much fun to create this canvas!

Geeda needs to try out everything. She puts her little sassy nose into everything, somehow gets into the smallest space, chases everything that moves... no wonder she was curious about my coffee that I bring out in the morning. I'm glad I caught her before her tongue was out! I hate to give up my coffee!

I love cats, but I have never owned a cat, not even once. But I have had many cats.

They just come to me. One day they turn up at my door and decide that they like the place and come back over and over again. They are not allowed inside because the Geek has really heavy allergies against pet fur. The cats know that, however, every now and then they succeed in sneaking inside. I think they just want to show me that they are cleverer than I am - and I admit to that. 

There was a beautiful ginger cat coming and staying in my yard for several years until she died last summer. It took some time until a new cat turned up - One day this April, this little white cat sat on my fence, staring into my kitchen. During that day I noticed some signs for a lost cat in our neighborhood, the description fit this little cat exactly. So when she turned up the next morning again, I called her by her name "Geeda" and she immediately came over to me, let me pick her up and just cuddled against me. I called the owners, and it turned out that she was living close by. She just has to cross a couple of backyards to reach my place.

Since that day in April she has come almost every day. She loves to hang out in my garden, sleep in a shady spot and always comes out to greet me when I step out onto the deck. She is a real cuddle cat.

She loves to chase little bugs and would wait for them, watch them - still playfully (she is still very young, a cat from the shelter), but one day it won't be playful anymore, unfortunately.

She also loves to distract me while I'm preparing classes. She knows darn well that she's not allowed on the table, but does she care? No way!

 Here she hangs out in my hammock, giving me a big fat yawn.

 While Ginger was still around I had found this little critter house at the thrift store, but Ginger never really liked it. Geeda, however, loves to sleep in there and find some shelter if it rains.

She is a sassy little cutie pie, but I love her. I'm so glad that there's a cat around again who is so affectionate as Geeda. I make sure not to feed her because I want her to go back to her owners who clearly love her as well - they are just not at home during the day, and Geeda definitely loves company. In the end, it's always the cat who makes the choice.

I sprayed the background with Glimmer Mist in sweet clover and patina, then stamped the birds at the birdbath (Inkadinkado) with Distress Ink black soot.. The cats (Inkadinkado) were stamped on cardstock that I had inked with Distress Ink in wild honey. Finally I tyed the words, inked the paper with Distress Ink in mustard seed and shabby shutters and ahered to the card with foam tape.

Fast and simple. A fun challenge.
