The gift

I wrote about my friend’s birthday party and my outfit earlier, now about my present.I’ve been in a bit of a DIY mood recently. I blame Gok’s Fashion Fix. It got me thinking: Why haven’t I been constantly making my high street clothes look expensive and original? I have absolutely no excuses. It’s so easy, totally rewarding and I actually love doing these little creative styling things.
So yeah, I decided to make her a shirt. Well, not from scratch. I bought a simple shirt and made it look… not quite so simple. Here it is.

Materials used:
Shirt from New Yorker
Shoulder pads
Golden chain
Golden safety pins
Blue rose made of ribbon
Tiny red bows
all from a haberdashery called Abakhan

She didn’t open her presents that night and I haven’t heard from her after that so I don’t know what she thinks.
Honestly, I'm slightly worried. It might not be her style. At all. But then again, she’s the only one of my close friends who I could picture ever wearing anything even remotely like that.
So… maybe I should just find new friends. (Only joking.) Anyway, I hope she liked it and if not then at least she didn’t have to fake a thrilled expression for me when she opened it.
