I felt so bad for Blair in this one. From queen to laughing stock, and all that in front of people like Dan, Vanessa and Georgina, ouch. I found it hard to believe that everyone in NYU chose watching self-made documentaries and drinking beer from plastic cups over sushi parties and limos. This would be a nightmare for me too. But now that I think about it, I went through a similar culture shock when I started at Tartu University. And I survived.
This is different, though. Mostly because I wouldn’t want Blair to ever decide that drinking the cheapest booze available and going to places like Zavood is okay. She wouldn’t be a Waldorf after that. You have to admire Blair for not giving up easily, outing Georgina as a Jesus freak was hilarious.
Serena’s storyline keeps getting dumber. Ever since the beginning of the first season she really wanted to go to Brown, then to Yale, then to Brown again and now she suddenly says that she’s decided not to go at all. It was quite obvious that the writers had to come up with something to keep her in New York with all the other characters, but come on. (Also, I feel like they should have thought about that before. Like a year ago, or even two. Throwing both Dan and Blair to NYU after they got into their dream school Yale and using the most ridiculous reasons – I still haven’t forgiven the writers for that.) And now Serena says that she has to figure out who she is and she can’t do it in a new place. What? This is the best way to get to know yourself. Chuck calling Serena a train wreck was harsh, but so true.
Nate and Bree’s storyline was utterly boring and I didn’t notice Jenny’s absence until I was halfway through with writing this.
