Sea, sex and Sun

Mais diário de viagem, mais uma música
More Summer Travel Diary and one more song about it ;)

* pics I took from my Nikon Coolpix L110

"...Um perfume bom
Propagandas de batom
Fantasias pra usar no carnaval
Desatinos, corpos quentes, vendaval
Tudo me faz lembrar você

Sea, sex and sun
Tudo me faz lembrar você..."

Tudo Me Faz Lembrar Você

Paradise

It's amazing how music can say things you're feeling sometimes...

"When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep...

And dreamed of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Every time she closed her eyes

When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth

Life goes on
It gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear, a waterfall
In the night, the stormy night
She'll close her eyes
In the night
The stormy night
Away she'd fly

Still lying underneath the stormy skies
She said oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I know the sun's set to rise

This could be para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Whoa-oh-oh oh-oooh oh-oh-oh..."

Pure Shores

"I've crossed the deserts
to miles
Swam water for time
Searching places just
to find
A piece of something
to call mine
(I'm coming)
A piece of something
to call mine
(I'm coming)
(I'm coming)
Coming closer to you...

...I'm moving,
I'm coming
Can you hear what I hear?
It's calling you,
my dear
Out of reach
(Take me to my beach)
I can hear it,
calling you
I'm coming,
not drowning
Swimming closer to you...

Take me to my beach"

August Break #10 - County Fair

Summer always means the County Fair and its joyful rides.

.

August Break #9 - The Beauty of Summer

.

August Break #3 - Lazy Days

Ah, the lazy days of summer.

It was a hot day today - we hadn't had that for quite a while. It's a weird summer this year. My tomatoes are still green. The peppers grow only slowly. The eggplants are tiny. Only the zucchini and pumpkins are doing really well.
I guess Northern California belongs more to the Pacific Northwest than to the rest of California.
Fine with me.

How's your summer?

Made in Germany 18 - Sunflowers and Wine

We lived in a small village about 10 kilometers away from Tübingen. I often biked to Tübingen along back roads, a very enjoyable ride. Sometimes the entire family biked to town just for some delicious Italian gelato and then back home again. A peaceful, low-key outing.

This is one of the views we had during those bike rides, of sunflowers, the church in the neighbor village and the hills covered with vineyards.

It spelled out one word:
Summer

.

Delicious Summer Food

In the summer when it is really hot I seldom like to cook dinner. We all feel that fresh cool food is way more appropriate. It's the time for delicious salads!

The family favorite is Caprese - tomatoes, mozzarella, basil leaves, olive oil, aceto balsamico, salt and pepper, and a good ciabatta to go with it, accompanied by a refreshing rosé wine - ah, that's the life!

Caprese prepared by Kaefer

We also love to create Southwestern style salads with tomatoes, some greens, onions, cucumber, avocado, some spicy chicken, a dollop of sour cream and tortilla strips or garlic bread.

And sometimes the Geek shows his artistic side with some radishes...

What is your favorite food to eat for dinner on hot summer days?

Celebrating the Joy of Gardening

A couple of weeks ago, the local nursery where I usually shop for all my plants and gardening needs celebrated its 115th anniversary with a wonderful midsummer night. I love to go there because the moment you step into the nursery you are transferred into a different world - a world of color, scent and peacefulness. The staff is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable - there is no question they cannot answer. 90% of all the plants come from local growers and they offer a lot of organic stuff. Their vegetables so far have never disappointed me.

Being a regular customer, Kaefer and I attended their midsummer night, like so many other people. There were cookies and lemonade and some yummy fiesta food.

You could spin the wheel and win a plant (Kaefer did).

You could look at beautiful roses and potted plants, and of course there were rows of veggies.

Water tickled from a fountain, and someone played the guitar nearby.

Toward the end of the evening we attended a demonstration how to plant hanging baskets for a shady spot and a big plant for a mainly sunny location - didn't they turn out beautifully?

Do you want to see my favorites? These guys - I just adore them!
